Red X’s and Green Checkmarks

I just came across a very neat Extension to Firefox.

Have you ever wondered if a specific site would be “safe” to visit?

Or have you ever been to a site stat had one popup after the other?

Or how about finding all sorts of new browser addins, trojans and viruses after visiting a site or downloading some sort of freeware?

Here’s what you should do:

  1. Install Firefox (if you haven’t done so already)
  2. Download and install SiteAdvisor

Now try searching for “screensaver” in any search engine, and you should notice that each result has been tagged with a Red X, a Yellow questionmark or a Green checkmark.

Hover your mouse over the icon, and it’ll show some more info about the site.

Siteadvisor advide on screensaver searches

This way you can know in advance if a site is in the clear, borderline suspicious or totally redflagged.
